Chief Financial Officer
A growing mission-driven organization is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial operations and strategy. This role is ideal for a finance executive who thrives in dynamic environments and can build infrastructure that supports long-term sustainability, growth, and innovation. The CFO will serve as a thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, overseeing financial planning, operations, compliance, and risk management across a complex, multi-entity organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial operations including budgeting, accounting, reporting, compliance, and audit preparation
- Develop and implement long-term financial strategies, including reserve planning and sustainable funding models
- Advise the CEO and board on fiscal strategy, operational sustainability, and risk mitigation
- Oversee integration of multiple legacy or programmatic entities into a cohesive financial framework
- Align financial strategy with fundraising, development, and programmatic goals
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including nonprofit accounting standards and tax filings
- Build and manage a high-performing finance and operations team
- Support legal, structural, and governance needs for a multi-entity organization
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive finance and operations leadership experience
- Background in nonprofit, foundation, investment, or mission-aligned organizations
- Expertise in nonprofit accounting, compliance, governance, and financial planning
- Experience working with or within complex funding structures, such as endowments, DAFs, or earned revenue streams
- Track record of leading through growth, transformation, or organizational integration
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- A mission-driven mindset with a commitment to equity, access, and impact
