Senior Construction Accountant

Mid-sized commercial construction company is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant to lead financial operations and project accounting in a hands-on environment. This role oversees day-to-day accounting, supervises a small team, and partners closely with leadership and project managers.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger and financial close
• Support project-related accounting and monitor overall job performance
• Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and insights to leadership
• Manage accounts payable, receivable, and cash flow processes
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with reporting requirements
• Partner with internal teams to support operational and financial decision-making
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
• Coordinate with external partners including CPAs, banks, and service providers
• Assist with process improvements and special projects as needed

Qualifications:

• 5-10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting operations
• Experience working in a project-based or job cost environment
• Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks experience preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication and organizational abilities
