Tax Manager – Family Office
Single Family Office is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Tax Manager to join its team. This individual will play a key role in managing and executing tax compliance, supporting strategic planning initiatives, and contributing to investment and entity-level reporting for a complex, multi-entity family office structure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working across various asset classes and tax structures.
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance
- Oversee preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns across multiple entities, including trusts, partnerships, and individuals
- Coordinate closely with external tax advisors and accountants to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Maintain and track estimated tax payments, extensions, and carryovers
- Manage sales and use tax compliance, including review of invoices and coordination with vendors to ensure proper documentation and tax treatment
- Track and maintain tax basis across entities, investments, and accounts to support gain/loss reporting and tax compliance
Tax Planning & Strategy
- Support tax planning initiatives at both the entity and family level, including charitable planning, trust structuring, and residency considerations
- Assist with analysis of the tax implications of investment decisions, liquidity events, and estate strategies
- Monitor changes in tax law and evaluate their impact on the family’s structure
Reporting & Analytics
- Own tax-related components of financial and investment reporting, including integration with accounting and performance data
- Assist in developing cash flow forecasts inclusive of tax liabilities
- Maintain internal documentation and workpapers supporting tax positions and key assumptions
General Support
- Act as a resource to the broader finance and investment team on tax-related matters
- Respond to ad hoc tax requests and support special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience in private client, trust, or family office tax — ideally at the Senior, Supervisor, or Manager level, depending on complexity and scope of prior rolesStrong working knowledge of individual, fiduciary, and partnership tax rules
- Experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and complex entity structures
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
