Senior Accountant - Family Office
A NYC-based multi-family office is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its financial reporting team. The firm manages a diversified portfolio of investments on behalf of a small group of ultra-high-net-worth families. This role will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting of various investment entities, including partnerships and trusts, across both traditional and alternative asset classes. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with accounting, tax, and investment teams in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Record and maintain general ledger entries for multiple investment partnerships and trusts on a monthly basis.
- Review general ledger activity and identify unusual or incorrect transactions.
- Provide guidance to team members on the proper accounting treatment of transactions.
- Assist with managing and clearing accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
- Review and approve capital call and distribution allocations related to private equity investments.
- Prepare annual financial statements for multiple entities.
- Assist with external audits and the preparation of audited financial statements.
- Review bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
- Perform transaction callback verifications with external banking institutions.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls to ensure financial security and integrity.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting procedures and workflows.
- Collaborate with accounting, tax, and investment teams on various financial initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
- CPA a plus
- Experience with Investran or similar investment accounting software preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with large datasets and financial reporting tools
