Director of Finance/Controller

 

Private Equity Real Estate firm is seeking a full-time Director of Finance to oversee corporate level finance and accounting practices. This role will report directly to the President of the company and will work very closely with the Investment team on Capital Markets matters.


Responsibilities:


  • Reporting: Liaise with close-knit internal team, partners, investors, property managers, auditors and lenders to ensure accurate financial reporting and controls.
  • Cash Management: Oversee accounts payable/receivable, invoice management and bill payments; detail inflows and outflows, calculate fee and expense allocation, process reimbursements and intra-company reconciliations; monitor and project cash balances
  • Deal support: calculate/propose transactions for real estate closings and general company items, provide support for fundraising, acquisitions, dispositions, fund raising, refinancings and 1031s
  • Capital Markets: help Company secure and support existing and new debt and equity relationships
  • Investor Reporting: Manage investor communications, capital calls, account statements, K-1s, and waterfall/distribution calculations; oversee Investor Portal and process quarterly payments to investors
  • Insurance: oversee property-level insurance policies and annual insurance schedule
  • Payroll & Benefits: oversee weekly payroll and administration of benefits
  • Annual Reports & Entity Filings: Oversee filing of annual entity reporting and creation of new entities
  • Tax: Primary liaison with the 3rd party audit and tax professionals for the completion of annual returns
  • Internal operations; prepare and oversee company operational and capital budget, oversee and coordinate with company vendors along with office manager, oversee the maintenance and organization of deal and company electronic files
  • Recurring Deliverables: Complete lender compliance requests, Personal property tax filings, IRA custodian filings, 1099 processing, holiday gifts as well as entity formation, filings and related payments

 

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of Commercial Real Estate Accounting experience.
  • Organized, intellectually curious, a great communicator, resourceful, detail-oriented, a self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Yardi or similar property management software
