VP of Finance - Family Office
A Philadelphia-based family office managing a diversified portfolio across real estate and private equity is seeking a VP of Finance who wants to be more than a back-office operator—someone who will act as a strategic partner to the principals, interface directly with investors and counterparties, and grow into a future CFO.
This role is for you if:
- You’re a CPA with 5-8+ years of experience and a track record of outperforming your peers.
- You want to step out of a large, layered organization and take ownership of a full finance function.
- You’re comfortable both closing the books and participating in investor and deal conversations.
- You’re looking for a clear, merit-based path to CFO.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the full accounting and financial reporting function across multiple entities (funds, holdcos, operating companies).
- Prepare and present financial reporting packages to principals, investors, and external stakeholders.
- Manage audits, tax processes (with external advisors), and banking relationships.
- Support deal activity including due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition integration.
- Build and maintain financial models, cash flow forecasts, and investor reporting.
- Establish and improve internal controls, processes, and systems as the firm scales.
- Serve as a key point of contact for lenders, investors, auditors, and counterparties.
What You Bring:
- CPA required with strong GAAP foundation.
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; public accounting background preferred.
- Experience with multi-entity structures, fund accounting, partnership allocations, or consolidations.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Yardi.
- Exposure to private equity, real estate, or investment management is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and presence with senior stakeholders.
- Self-starter mindset with a high level of ownership.
What We Offer:
- Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus.
- Clear, accelerated path to CFO.
- Direct exposure to principals, investors, and live deal activity.
- Opportunity to influence strategy, not just report on it.
- Potential for co-investment or profit-sharing.
- Lean, high-impact environment where your work is visible and valued.
