SVP, Finance (Path to CFO) - Startup

Venture-backed AI startup is seeking an SVP, Finance with a clear path to CFO. The company is backed by leading strategic and financial investors and recently closed a Series B and now scaling from R&D/pilots to commercial rollout, revenue recognition, and multi-site expansion. This role will professionalize finance, build infrastructure, and partner with leadership as the business enters commercial scale.

Responsibilities:

• Own controllership, monthly close, and board-level financial reporting
• Build GAAP-compliant policies, controls, and audit-ready infrastructure
• Lead FP&A: budget, forecasting, cash runway, and unit economics
• Oversee audit, tax (incl. R&D credits, sales tax), and external partners
• Manage cap table, 409A, equity administration, and board materials
• Lead treasury, banking, insurance, and cash management strategy
• Own corporate compliance and entity governance
• Support investor reporting and future fundraising (Series C)
• Assess and build out Finance/HR team

Qualifications:

• 10–20 years finance experience in venture/PE-backed environments
• Track record through financings and/or exits
• CPA required; strong technical accounting foundation (Big 4 or similar)
• Experience with hardware, robotics, or capital-intensive businesses preferred
• Hands-on operator with CFO potential and strong board presence
