Senior Finance, Manager
A leading nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to support and enhance its finance and accounting operations. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing financial processes, supervising staff, and contributing to strategic initiatives. This position will oversee contributions processing, bank reconciliations, investment accounting, and internal financial controls. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical accounting skills, supervisory experience, and a passion for mission-driven work.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily cash and contributions processing to ensure accuracy and timely revenue recognition
- Manage monthly bank reconciliations and support year-end financial close
- Supervise an Accounting Manager, including training, performance evaluation, and workflow management
- Support investment accounting and reconciliation, including work with individually managed investment accounts
- Assist in the preparation and support of annual financial and benefit plan audits
- Collaborate on the development of internal procedures for financial reporting and process improvements
- Review financial documentation related to grants and ensure compliance with internal policies
- Assist in developing the annual administrative budget
- Participate in special projects, including system improvements and automation initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of non-profit accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Experience in philanthropic organizations and grant administration is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP & financial reporting
- Proficiency with accounting and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite)
- Proficiency in Excel, including the use of PivotTables and VLOOKUPs
- Exposure to process automation or workflow improvement initiatives is a plus
