CFO - Family Office
Privately held family office with diverse holdings across private equity, public markets, alternative investments and more is seeking a CFO. The office manages all aspects of the family’s financial affairs including investment oversight, tax strategy, estate planning, philanthropy, and family governance. They are seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial operations of the office and serve as a trusted advisor to the principals.
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, planning, reporting, and risk management of the family office and its related entities. This individual will lead a small team of accounting and finance professionals, work closely with external advisors, and ensure that financial activities are aligned with the family’s short- and long-term objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities for the family office and affiliated entities
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation across various investment structures and legal entities
- Oversee accounting, tax compliance, and audit processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings and reporting
- Interface with investment advisors, legal counsel, estate planners, and other external service providers
- Ensure appropriate internal controls, risk management, and compliance with all applicable regulations
- Provide strategic guidance on tax-efficient structuring of investments, trusts, and intergenerational wealth transfers
- Support philanthropic initiatives, including the management of charitable foundations and grantmaking processes
- Present regular financial updates and strategic insights to family principals and stakeholders
- Supervise and mentor finance team members and manage relationships with third-party accounting firms
Qualifications:
- CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally including time within a family office, private investment firm, or wealth management environment
- Strong understanding of complex tax structures, estate planning concepts, and multi-entity financial operations
- Experience managing both liquid and illiquid investments across asset classes
- Exceptional integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
- Proven leadership skills and a collaborative, low-ego working style
- Ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly to non-financial stakeholders
