Bookkeeper – Real Estate Development & Property Management
Real Estate Development and Property Management firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to support the financial operations. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting both development project accounting and ongoing property operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, rent collections, and disbursements.
- Maintain the general ledger and post journal entries, including development-related costs.
- Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts for accuracy.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for property operations and development projects.
- Track project-level expenses and capitalized costs for real estate development and restoration projects.
- Process draw requests, vendor payments, and allocate costs accurately across projects.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records (digital and physical).
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Work closely with asset managers, property managers, and project teams to coordinate financial workflows.
- Communicate with vendors, contractors, and external partners as needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2–5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in real estate development or property management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio); strong Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of general ledger bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
